So they won't pass it w/o a few token GOPers to provide the illusion of bipartisanship.
“In America, we have a two-party system, there is the stupid party. And there is the evil party. I am proud to be a member of the stupid party. Periodically, the two parties get together and do something that is both stupid and evil. This is called bipartisanship."

I think the bolded text above is right on. When one party wants to do something disastrous for the country, they try to get some bipartisan support so that they won't get all the blame themselves. The democrats want to pass a boondoggle of a health care bill, but they want some Republicans to vote for it too, to minimize the fallout.

Please provide a detailed analysis of how the Public option will

a) create more affordable health care coverage

b) create coverage for more people

c) not become another Government run "business" that follows the fate of every other Government run business.

If you give valid answers to this then you can talk about the dumbing down of America and not include Big Government, nanny state liberals like yourself.

The public option will pass. Without it the rest of that bill is going nowhere and the Democrats will pay dearly if they fail on this. They know that too.

Because perhaps the Aussies maybe like it??

That will get rid of half the left wingers right there.
Wow you just can't listen can you

Dick Armey and Freedomworks are suing to make Social Security and Medicare Voluntary. If they will everyone paying in will quit and Both Social Security and Medicare will collapse. There is also a group of Republicans in Congress called tenthers, who are cahllenging the government right to have programs like Social Security and Medicare. So if nothing is done you will have neither

Perhaps in the twilight zone.

Your perception is flat out wrong.

The Senate WILL NOT pass a public option, and if they do, the Dems will lose Congess in 2010.

Something most overlook. The backdoor UHC that both parties are for(behind closed doors at this point) is the Mandated Health Insurance which will probably be proposed in tonight's speech.

You got a regulation that all must purchase health care, you've got a very big foot in the door for a public option in the future. Factor in the public option "trigger" proposed by Olympia Snow and shortly, Viola! public option, UHC for all. Never underestimate the deviousness of politicians or whose patting whose butt in the cloakroom.
