The dumbing down is a direct result of government interference in our education system. And, no government should not run our healthcare, Our government is too corupt to be allowed that much power and control over us. Healthcare needs to be addressed but not in the manner of the current proposal. Look at the Dept. of Energy, created to remove our dependence on foreign oil in the Carter Administration. It's grown into a huge department that has a massive budget and has not put us one step closer to independence from foriegn oil. Look at how the government handled New Orleans, And people want the government to handle our healthcare? That my friend is a true example of "The dumbing down of America"
You're right there won't be no public option, won't be any of that Social(ist Security or Medicare either. That'll teach'em.
Nope, lets just put everyone who EARNED their SS and Medicare on Welfare and take the lazy ass bums who live for welfare off of it and make them live on the streets.
Go ahead, lets take away grannys SS and at the same time wipe out welfare and free cheese for losers.

Perhaps freedom for many is simply being allowed to live another day. It's a barbaric society that kills its young, old, and sick on the premise that they just couldn't compete.

I'll explain it for you. I certainly don't mind providing healthcare coverage to those who TRULY cannot afford it. I am against the government FORCING me to pay for people's health insurance who cannot afford it because they are either lazy or choose to spend their money on other things (beer, cars, TVs, vacations, etc).
I believe that a lot of the 46 million uninsured fall into one of the latter two categories. IT IS MORALLY WRONG to force hard working people to pay for these people.
I really don't understand why so many liberals don't get this very basic point.
