Property taxes in Texas are outrageusly high. It's almost like you might as well be renting your house from the government.

This in and of itself is not the doing of any governing body in California but the result of progressive taxation and incredible accumulation of wealth in the hands of a few. You can argue that the way they spend the money is irresponsible, but the way they get it is totally understandable.
True, of course. Not to mention the disingenuous thread title.

Simply amazing how an OP concerning state income tax is immediately turned into a discussion about "the lazy bums" by rightwingers. You rightwingers suffer from "lazy bums" on the brain. Maybe that Quietus stuff can give you some relief.

In the liberal cities yes they are. Get out of the city areas then 1.9% is not too bad really.

You do rent your house from the government. If you don't pay property taxes, you'll loose your house. I don't understand how you can purchase something but it's not yours.

Wrong.

The super wealthy hardly pay any taxes cause they invest mainly in tax exempt bonds. These bonds are usually exempt
from California and Federal taxes. The other super wealthy claim income tax free states like Nevada Wyoming Florida etc as their "principal residence". Haven't you notice a whole bunch of celebrities have homes in Florida. Many claim florida as their main residence.

35-40% of California residents have no state income tax liability. So the "Henrys" aka "high earners not rich yet" pay way more than their fair share of state income taxes. Those people fall into the $200-500k a year range. Those are the ones who get hit the hardest in California because they don't have super income to side step the high income taxes.

My brother out in California paid out almost $40k in California state income taxes alone plus they get hit with the AMT fed tax (cause they claim high state income taxe deduction). The AMT disallows state income taxes and disallows the $15k property tax deduction. In they also get hit with am additional $18k in AMT taxes in addition to their $100k plus fed taxes. It's crazy.

The Henrys are the ones supporting California.

You seem to be having some trouble. I'm laughing snake. You appear to be the one whining. I mean, what else would you call it when someone uses deception to **** and moan about those poor misunderstood multi-millionaires.

Hey Snake, after you're done crying me a river (thanks for that one ), please explain how (paraphrased) "pays nearly half the state's income tax" equates to "38 million people living off the backs of?" Take your time.

Excellent post on who is really paying taxes. This happens at all levels..State and Federal. The brunt of taxes is shouldered by upper middle class taxpayers..the very payers Obama said would not get taxed any more.
