Pretty much self explanatory. Most posters at City-Data are respectful and basically nice. However I have had a very few harass me and lost a few forum friends, when they found out I was GAY.

I have started this thread with a poll that will NOT BE PUBLIC. NOONE will know how you voted unless you mention it in a reply. I am really curious and want only HONEST replies; hence the non-public poll.

I do NOT want to have anyone's feelings hurt, nor anyone harassed and this includes myself. Remember that your emotions are sensed by posters by what you type....all of us (me included) have emotions here, so put yourself in the other person's shoes before you post. PEACE

i am far less inclined to give points to a hate gorged poster who relishes attacking kind gentle people solely bek they are differenet, and getting his sex life in other peoples faces 24/7.
on the other hand if he is one of those very smart talented people from san francisco that has lots of friends gay and straight, you know the non militant---- i will rep away.

Thank you for telling me that you are, in fact gay. I didn't know but it certainly makes no difference to me when it comes to reps and how I talk to you. I have figured out a couple but it didn't make any difference to me and certainly won't with you.

Is this too militant or "in your face". .I am just kidding! Remember we too have loved ones and sometimes we wish to share things, just like everyone else. But I think a few posters go overboard with the GAY threads...I try for moderation... this is my first "gay" thread for a long time...LOL.. And thanx for responding .

Whether in my "real life" or on this forum, I honestly give little to no thought to other people's sex life and just don't care. If you are nice and make good points then that is what I care about.

That's a silly question to me. I don't judge and know some who are on here who are gay, without them telling me, it is something that you know. And why should it make a difference, if i agree with what you post, and i think the same as you. I don't like judgemental people, and i don't like to be judged, but judge the judgemental, and watch out. I respect you telling me that you are gay, no it has no bearing on the fact that i would not rep you. My point of view, is no it does not make a difference, we are all humans, and after all, just want to be liked. If people on the forum dropped your friendship after they found out you were gay, they were not your friend to begin with, and how small of them. Nothing get's in the way of a true friendship, my best friend is Gay her and i are very close, and that does not get in the way of our friendship, infact we have so much fun together, my husband and kids lover her to. So don't pay attention to the small minded people out there, who will judge you just because of that, if they walked away, they were not your friends to begin with.

Thanx and eloquently written. I'm GLAD it seems silly to you for me to ask...but I know a few people who are very wierd about it...one friend barely even talks to me now...which I don't understand since I am the same poster I was before he found out.

That's partly why I started the thread....I'd say maybe half the regular posters already know in most forums. I talk a lot in the Science forum...I'm sure only one or two posters know(it's the rest who don't know) there and I enjoy their friendship and conversation and fear losing both, plus their respect. Unfortunately my growing up in the sixties has instilled an irrevocable paranoia in my psyche.(We got electroshock therapy or jailtime back then) .

Thanx for posting and your encouraging words!
