It works both ways. New Orleans is one of my favorite cities and recently we were taking a guided tour of the French Quarter. The guide mentioned all of the recent transplants from the Portland, OR area that moved to the quarter that are trying to lobby the city council to quiet down Bourbon Street and limit the parades.

Every area has their own sub-culture and that's what makes this country great. I may not want to live in Seattle, but I want to visit and see how you live.
What does that have to do with anything? How does that make this country great? Every city in the world has a sub-culture going on. I didn't feel welcome in the South. I don't like religion shoved down my throat. I think we would all be better off if the South left and formed its own theocracy.

Not everyone in the South shoves religion at you though...

But I don't care what the south does. I just choose not to live there. What I can't stand is when southerners move to the Pacific North West for work (great economic policies you got going on in Dixie, huh) And then complain about how liberal we are.

If you don't like the sun, stay out of Arizona. If you hate the snow, stay out of Alaska. And if you hate liberals, stay away from the Cascadia region. Simple as that.
Hey... Say what you want about Seattle, but you all have great support for your football team.

Same thing with people accusing me of being a liberal just because I'm a Democrat. I have pretty conservative values but I recognize a party of crazies when I see it. The GOP used to stand for business and keeping Government out of the way. Now they are TV Evangelists.

Regarding the south, I have nothing but positive experiences. Very good, common sense people. We may not agree politically, but on many things we do.

I like your last statement. I too probably don't want to live in Seattle. Nor would I want to live in Mississippi, or Montana.... or even Iowa.... but I would want visit to see how they all live.

Many liberals live in the south or are from there. And the real south is Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana. I don't hate the south at all because it's my roots. It's their lack of education that drives me crazy.

Well, for the most part, the dominant white southern culture doesn't believe in government, so unfortunately what you point out is never, ever going to change. They do believe in god though.

What does government have to do with math and English?
