I was a public health nurse for many years and saw lots of people, mostly moms with kids, on welfare. I can't think of anyone who cheated and lied to qualify. Some seemed to have some outside sources of income, maybe something from the kids' fathers.
Not all are ashamed. Many are career welfare kings or queens.

Just out of curiosity, how many in this thread are receiving some kind of government payment for something? Not just welfare, but ANY government payment, such as Social Security, VA, crop subsidies, tax credits for buying a new car or going "green." How many took advantage of "cash for clunkers?"
