I think you should be careful in using the term "liberal" in this regard. The majority of liberals certainly do not hate Israel.
But the majority of far leftists do. And yes, far leftists and radical muslims do have that trait in common. Not only a hatred of Israel but also a hatred of America.

I'm not a committed viewer to the show (although I do think it's funny), so I wouldn't know.
They touched on the subject during the "Cartoon Wars" episodes, where the boys found the Family Guy writing staff and discovered the trick to how their episodes are written.
In goes like this: it was sparked by the Family Guy showing an image of Mohammed, and Comedy Central censoring the image. The town wanted to "bury their heads in the sand" (literally) because the Muslims were threatening Jihad on the town if they showed the image. Cartman wanted to convince the writers to pull the episode (but not because he cared about the Muslims feelings, he just hated Family Guy and wanted it off the air). The rest of the town was afraid of offending the Muslims. Only Kyle thought Mohammed should be shown as-is "If you give in to terrorism, you're allowing it to work. If you don't show Mohammed, you show what is okay to censor and what isn't. Either it's all okay or none of it is."

No, Matt and Trey are just trying to find a way to save face now that they've totally capitulated to Muslim terrorism. They added in a Jesus watching pornography and a Buddhist snorting cocaine, as if that will somehow appease their new masters.
Chatteress, this is really not about making fun of religion. On the face of it, I would agree with you that it is in poor taste to poke fun at believers. But what is at issue here is FREEDOM and INTIMIDATION. Muslims will kill you if you disagree with them. That should not be allowed, period. Every media outlet should start a campaign of openly allowing their programs to make fun of Islam for the sole purpose of showing Muslims in our country that this intimidation crap will not be tolerated. Instead, everyone is rolling over, EVERYONE. Muslims grow bolder and bolder, and why shouldn't they, when they see that their threats work?

The blame is all on comedy central. They ruined what would have been one of the best episodes ever and should be held accountable for it. People need to offend the muslims even more now, just for retribution. They have never had a problem making fun of any other cult.
