Naive,no.

I simply believe that infringing upon anothers freedoms because you want to do 'good' is in itself evil.

Whereas a lot of people think the ends justify the means....

You don't want the race card played...don't support racist policies or candidates..
Define racism in your own words.

It's 2010, nobody of any skin color in the USA is dealing with discrimination based on African slavery. If you're a black man/woman in the USA today you aren't a slave, you never were a slave and you don't know anyone who ever was a slave.

Learned a lesson. Businesses should have a right to refuse business to anyone.
Classic. Repeal the Civil Rights Act because you preferred to play victim rather than put up a sign to the effect of "Limit five free doughnuts per person" or whatever.

I'm not even sure where I stand - in some ways I think guaranteeing at least 50% whites in everything might be good - that is - if a workplace or club doesn't have 50% whites then it cannot exist. Or government scholarships must be doled out strictly by race -- but then make it fair - let whites get half or more because they are half or more of the population.

See that's just it for me, there has not yet been an even playing field. Prior to the Civil Rights act, people did not have equal opportunity due to legalized discrimination, and following that we've been playing catch-up and trying to force and manipulate equality with affirmative action. I completely understand the motive behind AA, whether it worked or not is debatable for sure.

Should the same rules apply for each private group/business/organization wanting a a select membership based on race or ethnicity? I am very conflicted about this to be honest.

How can you create an even playing field when one team has specialized help from the fed. gov. and they still don't catch up? At what point will people realize that you can't force a person or group of people to be successful or to make progress?

Ever thought that if government stayed out of it the playing field would level off by itself?

Too many people look to government for the answer, little realising government is more likely the cause of the problem.
