I think that is a perfect situation for the Raiders. I can only imagine the traffic on I-15 going back to LA after a Raider game to add to the normal traffic already!!
I certainly hope (and expect) that you all show the same, if not more, outrage when the Raiders relocate to Vegas, that you've shown the Chargers over the last few days. The Chargers (Spanos) are getting killed in the media right now and of course LA is getting a handful of hate/snark as well.
Both owners are greedy, we can probably all agree on that. But at least Spanos gave the democratic process a chance and put a ballot measure up to vote on (the folks in Atlanta and Minneapolis weren't so lucky). The people voted, and the majority voted No. I think the Chargers fully funded the whole ballot measure process too ($10 million spent). So now is he running off to another City that's willing to give him free taxpayer money because SD wouldn't (ya know, bilking a new set of suckers)? No, he's moving in with another team on a project that is fully funded privately, where the deal for him (from a financial standpoint) is a sweet one.
Mark Davis on the other hand isn't putting anything up for vote, he's just going to take his team elsewhere because a municipality is offering $750 million in public money. The fact that the money would come from a hotel tax doesn't exactly make it a victimless crime to the taxpayers/citizens. It's still public money.
Neither of these guys have what it takes to build their own stadium, so they're both exercising their options to move somewhere that can build them one. Essentially, they're both willing to throw away tradition and fan loyalty for the chance to make more money than they're already making (definition of greed I guess).
Now that I've said that, let's address greed. Corporations have no responsibility to the public. Their responsibility is to deliver profits to their shareholders. So, no, I don't consider it wrong.
Now the NFL IS a government sanctioned monopoly. Has been since the AFL-NFL merger. So you could argue that different rules should apply. If you think that, then write your congressmen that there should be a nationwide law of no public funding for stadiums. But until that happens, don't fault these owners for doing what is legally allowed to them.
Spanos is not running to another city willing to give taxpayer money. The stadium in LA is privately funded.
We can debate the greediness and all that separately, but we have to get our facts straight.
C'mon man, did you seriously miss the part where I said that the City he is going to is NOT giving him taxpayer money? That was like the central point of my entire post haha.

Nope. Fine with the Raiders moving to Vegas. It's a different situation. Raiders spent over a decade in Los Angeles. They have a large following all up and down CA. Vegas is a city that wants a pro sports team and has a lot to offer. While I would prefer they stay in Oakland, at least a move to Vegas makes sense. I can't say the same for the Chargers. Chargers will be the third most popular NFL team in LA behind the Rams and a team that won't even be in the city, the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Raiders will be fine where they are. The 49ers are in trouble, not many people are willing to spend hours getting to San Jose in order to see them lose
