The Redskins defense has just made history. Through the first three games of the season, the Redskins have given up more yards on defense (1,479) since the 1951 New York Yanks (a football team) in 1951.

The Redskins defense has given up more yards in 3 games than any other team in 62 years.

Going up against an angry 0-2 team on the road is probably not a good situation for the Lions.

Yeah, that defense is horrible. People keep talking about RG3, but I don't think he's the issue, the issue is that atrocious defense...... Do you see the defensive coordinator get canned?

Though RG3 had a bonehead interception and a bonehead fumble, the offense is not the problem. Griffin looks much better than he did the first two weeks, but he's still not playing like "RG3." But the Redskisn offense put up over 400 yards of offense. Griffin and the offense are not the problem, at least not today

are defense is bad. really, really bad. worst in the NFL right now.

I don't follow enough football, but was the defense bad last year?

If the first two to four games of the season is a good indicator of how the season is going to go, then by that logic, the Redskins should have been in the playoffs the last several years. That is why I don't get very upset or excited over a team two games into a season. Now, if the 'skins drop to 0-4 by their bye week, then I'll start to panic.

That is why I scoff at the point of Arizona's defense being "legit". They have given up an average of 22.5 points in their first two ball games, to teams who were not playoff caliber teams last year (or at least missed the playoffs.) Arizona's defense is average at best - quite so, they were ranked 17th last year. So, pretty much dead average. So, Arizona's dead average defense beat the Lions "high powered" offense that may not have Reggie Bush this weekend.

With that said, yes, the Card's defense is playing much better than the Redskins defense, but you're making it sound like Arizona has a top 5 defense and they don't. As much as I respect Mathew Stafford and Calvin Johnson - and while I expect them to hook up for some big plays and score some TD's, I don't believe the Lions will beat the Redskins. Yes, I realize the defense is going to HAVE to play much better than they have. Also the offense. I believe they will. Yes, I am a diehard Redskins fan so I'm hoping the Redskins will win, and I believe they will. Will I be surprised if the 'skins lose? No, not really. Disappointed? Absolutely, but this is the same team that was fielded a year ago. Robert has to play better - mentally - the defense has to play a heck of a lot better - especially the rookies. I think they get it done this weekend.
I think after today my point was proven. Two 100yd receivers from Detroit, 385 passing from Stafford.

Washington's defense is a, no, THE big problem, which is putting Alfred Morris and the running game out of commission since they are playing from behind most of the time and putting RG3 in catchup mode which is not what you want on a QB coming off surgery. If there is a saving grace for the Skins, no one from the division is exactly impressing. NYG has been a punching bag, Philly I'm not exactly trusting yet, Dallas' wins don't impress me especially since one of them is against NYG.

LOL, leave it to me to put the jinx on the 'skins.

However, it wasn't quite the runaway game that you guy were making it out to be. I thought Hall played about as well as he could against Calvin Johnson. I told you before he was going to get his catches and scores, but I was impressed by David Amerson. I thought he played much better. I thought it helped having Josh Wilson rotate to safety, since he pretty much stints at being a cover corner. I definitely have never denied the defense's ineptitude with tackling and giving up big plays - and they showed that ineptitude once again. At least it wasn't the bleeding that the defense showed against Green Bay, but it still needs to be fixed in a hurry. They had great times where they were able to stop drives, and then other times they looked like they didn't know what they were doing.

However, let's also pay attention to all the penalties the Redskins committed. Both on offense and defense. Penalties that gave new life to Lion drives, and killed Redskins drives. The 58 yard TD pass that was reversed was a huge momentum killer. Had that play stood, we would probably have been talking about the Redskins finally picking up their first win of the season. Had Griffin slide feet first and not fumbled - probably would have went in to score on that drive as well. So the Redskins had their opportunities.

So, yeah, the 'skins are 0-3. I'm not sweating yet, but it is getting hot in here! 13 more games to go, with an NFC East that looks pretty horrid. The winner of the division could very well have a losing record, so I'm not too worried just yet. We'll see how the 'skins fair against the Raiders.

There is hope, remember 2010 when NFC west was terrible and 7-9 Seahawks made the playoffs and 10-6 teams in other divisions were out.

I am not holding my breath that 7-9 or even 8-8 will win the Division but but 10-6 or even 9-7 are looking pretty good right now!
