Maybe the Bills can trade Mario Williams and Sammy Watkins to get the #1 overall pick and take Marcus Mariotta. I think there may be enough other positive pieces in place to where this just might work!

I know you are joking ditch, but no thanks. Mariotta has Kaepernick written all over him.

I could easily see Orton staying with the Bills next year. What are the other options? Plus the Bills play the AFC South next year instead of the AFC West. Bills likely will go 1-3 against the AFC West this year, they could easily flip that to 3-1 against the AFC South next year.

Trade the two franchise players you got for the #1 pick? This will keep Buffalo in the afterthoughts category for a few more years.

Default Playoff Machine: How The Bills Make The Playoffs

Games that involve tiebreakers...

Scenario 1:

Week 14:
Steelers over Bengals (You'll see...)
Dolphins over Ravens (Ravens have a better chance of going 4-0 this month.)
Bills over Broncos (This game doesnt matter, if they lose this game but win the other 3, Bills could be in. Should win this game, however.)
Cardinals over Chiefs (Game doesnt matter, but it would be helpful if the Chiefs lose.)
Patriots over Chargers

Week 15:
Patriots over Dolphins
Ravens over Jaguars (We need the Ravens to steel the AFC North.)
Bills over Green Bay (GB doesnt play well on the road, so the Bills have a legitimate chance of winning.)
Bengals over Browns (No importance.)
Broncos over Chargers (Need to knock Chargers out.)

Week 16:
49ers over Chargers (Chargers take another step down.)
Vikings over Dolphins (No importance.)
KC over Steelers (Could happen, but Bills still in if Steelers lose.)
Ravens over Texans
Bills over Raiders

Week 17:
Ravens over Browns
Bengals over Steelers (Knock them out even further.)
Patriots over Buffalo (If Buffalo wins first 3, no importance. If Buffalo wins 2 out of 3, this game is the most important.)
Chargers over KC (No importance, can go either way.)
Dolphins over Jets (No importance, can go either way.)

Seed 1: Patriots
Seed 2: Denver
Seed 3: Colts
Seed 4: Pittsburgh
Seed 5: Ravens
Seed 6: Buffalo

Scenario 2:

Week 14:
Bills over Broncos
Chargers over Patriots
Ravens over Miami

Week 15:
Dolphins over Patriots
Bills over Packers

Week 16:
Bills over Raiders
Jets over Patriots (Chance is close to 0%.)

Week 17:
Bills over Patriots

**Bills must win all 4 games, Patriots must go 1-3, losing to Jets. Miami can go 3-1 at most, losing to the Ravens.**

There are other ways also, but those are the two with the highest probability. The other scenario is the Ravens winning all 4, with the Dolphins going 2-2 (losing to Ravens/NE.)

We will see how things play out. At minimum Bills got to split the next two and then of course not forget to show up against Oakland. If they can do that I think they will at minimum be looking at a very meaningful game week 17 in NE in which they will likely need to at minimum win and possibly need help from one or two teams to get in to the dance. I will just be happy if that week 17 game means something.

A win against the Broncos would of course be preferred to a win over the Packers since conference records are likely to decide tie breakers. Bills also don't hold very many tie breakers right now.

San Diego pulling off the late victory last week was huge in terms of helping out all other teams in the hunt. Ravens probably definitely have the easiest schedule remaining. A win last week probably would have guaranteed them a spot in the playoffs.

For Scenario #1 to be successful, the Bills need the Ravens to go 4-0. The Ravens/Steelers need to steal the AFC North from the Bengals. If the Bills go 3-1, Dolphins go 2-2, Chargers go 1-3, etc the Bills are in.
