Leave the teenage girls to teenage boys stop trying to find ways to justify scoping little girls/boys. We can justify anything to suit our wants. First it will be 16, then that won't be low enough to suit some who will come up with research studies to say once menstrual cycle or breast form, game on. We get it some grown people lust for people young enough to be their children.
you think they really care, when it comes to getting laid? they don't. Just like you said easy to justify anything to fit into whatever mold you want. Teen boys should be worrying about this stuff with teen girls not grown as* men.
I think if the age of consent is 16 then the age at which she gives consent to should be set at most at 21 or something. The idea of a 40 year old going after a 16 year old gives me shivers.

Let's also not forget Courtenay is in a different time dimenstion to ordinary humans, she has aged in lizard years so is actually 54.
The age of consent at 16 is appropriate because our societies over the years have evolved from "old enough to bleed, old enough to breed" mindset of hundreds of years ago, to now sex with children being frowned upon, and rightly so.
Society also tells us that most people are having their first sexual experiences in the age group 15-18. Courtenay would be humping on someone else with a dollar, if not this old perv in my opinion, because she is sexually matured.
16 is also the age deemed societally appropriate, not just from an anthropological point of view, which is mildly interesting but largely irrelevant.
Exploring ones sexuality is natural from puberty if not earlier, and trying to police that in early adulthood is not only useless, it's probably actually harmful to normal sexual maturity which is a process of evolution and stages.
Basically what I'm trying to say is, 16 seems about right to me.
Sixteen is a fine age to have sex with other sixteen year olds, not 25 year olds.
I'd say there are some exceptions and we should just use our common sense, but too many people are severely lacking in that department and that's why we have these laws.
By clinical definition, a pedophile is an adult attracted to pre-pubescent children. Age of consent laws have nothing to do with pre-pubescent children, nor with adults attracted to them.
