People do seem to be having longer childhoods. Maybe it's my imagination.

Yes, I agree.

I had to do some work at a High School campus a few yrs ago and some of those 15, 16 yrs old girls... jeez.... I don't know what is in the water or how they're parents are letting them dress, but I just kept my head down and didn't look AT ALL.......

There were several contractors onsite as they were doing a lot of work at this school and I heard that there was some rule in place that no one could talk to any of the kids, particularly the girls and supposedly some guy got kicked off of the project because he was chatting up the young girls...

...and this could be an unhealthy mindset society has...not that the construction workers were not supposed to chat up the 15 year old girls...that's kinda gross.

...it's just viewing a physical attraction to a sixteen year old girl as lingering towards pedophelia. I think that's dangerous. We need to remember what we are...that what we are isn't always that ideal of a thing...but it's what we are nonetheless.

Oh, come on. All things that make us uncomfortable should probably be discussed...just not around friends and relatives. That's what discussions with strangers on Citi-Data are for.

I pity anyone who has long term friends on here though...you people get to get emberassed.

Default Is 16 The Appropriate Age Of Consent? (Read before posting, please)

At 16 puberty usually ends meaning that people are sexually mature but more relevant to the subject is that cognitive abilities are fully matured at 16.

With I that said do you believe that 16 is the appropriate age to consider someone to be competent enough to consent to sexual acts?
Strictly used to keep men out of jail for statutory rape is my take on the matter......

No, it's not. People that are 16 should NOT be doing anything of the sort. They do these things and then usually end up pregnant and either their parents or the government have to help them pay for their child which is not fair for EITHER party. When teens engage in sex, they are being selfish and not thinking of the consequences that their actions bring. I personally think that they age should be 18 and yes teens should get into trouble for sending explicit pics as well because if I had a daughter, you better believe that heads would roll if I found out she was either receiving or sending those types of pics.
