Columbus OH has a throwback hip hop station now, plays hip hop from the 1980s to early 2000s, along with some RnB and dancehall from those eras too. It's the first time I've listened to a radio station regularly in years.
In the DC area it's pretty bad. I don't care what the advertisers and broadcasting companies say, it's junk.
Radio as a whole in DC and Baltimore has been bad for the last 15 years or so. Many years ago I had a friend who worked at WRQX in DC. According to her the reason for so much bad radio in DC is that so many station are union shops and the union doesn't do anything and the stations themselves are to scared to do anything new.. Don't know if I buy that or not but Richmond, Virginia actually has better radio than DC or Baltimore now and even there it's not much and Richmond I don't believe has any stations in the union.
Oklahoma City doesn't even have one. It might be the largest market without an urban contemporary formatted station. The format has never been attempted here either which I find odd given how popular the format was back in the '00s. The closest thing is the very pop-leaning Rhythmic Top 40 KKWD Wild 104.9. There is a low-power throwback hip-hop station here now but still nothing playing the current hits aside from what comes on Wild 104.9. I have always liked 97.9 the Beat in Dallas and usually listen when I am down there.
