I am having my 6 month anniversary in Sept and I am looking for long weekend ideas that I can drive to and won't cost me an arm and a leg. Preferably Fri-Sun but Sat- Mon works as well. Thanks for any info in advance. This could be in NC, SC, GA or VA.

how about the Grove Park Inn in Asheville? they have a number of specials on their website and if it's good enough for the President and his wife a few months ago, then maybe you will enjoy as well.

Traditionally, the 6th anniversary is candy or iron. So, I'd suggest a box of Godiva chocolates on Course #2 at Pinehurst! (If you play golf, of course).

We were just there and it's really beautiful, with fabulous service. They're also offering lots of specials. Our room was only $200ish. Fabulous dinner -- there's numerous places to eat. There's swimming and tennis, too. And a fabulous spa for anniversary pampering!

They also offer "romantic packages" and there's lots of cute places to shop.

Congrats on 6! Here's to many, many more!

6-YEAR (as your thread title says) or 6-MONTH (as your first post says)? Quite a big difference

-- Francois is right, as usual! Yesssss, it does make a huge difference!

Having just celebrated a third YEAR anniversary with our son and his wife, I didn't read it clearly!

Oh, well, Pinehurst is still really nice.

OP: best wishes . . . either way!

You could drive to Alexandria, VA. Stay in the Old Town and explore the area. I hear the cruise on the Potomac is beautiful.

Actually, Francois and I were both right! The title says "Year", the first sentence says "month" ! LOL!

But OP says 6 YEARS! So, congrats again; it's nice to know some couples are making it last!

I also had another idea -- Charleston -- it would be a little cooler and that's a great place. We've stayed at Harbourview Inn (obviously with a beautiful view of the harbor and not terribly expensive!) and there are endless places for romantic dinners My personal favorites are S.N.O.B. -- Slightly North of Broad (Street) or High Cotton. Both fabulous, High Cotton might be a tad more expensive. And then take a very romantic carriage ride at dust!

Enjoy!

Yes, Charleston is a perfect weekend getaway from here, and can be very romantic. Or, get a cabin in the mountains--there is that "vacation rental by owner" or whatever site it is, with many, many mountain places which are very nice for a weekend--I've spent an anniversary there, myself (we even took the "kids"--dogs--as some are pet-friendly).

Savannah GA is also perfect for a weekend getaway. We did that for our anniversary about 5 years ago.

We stayed at a great bed and breakfast and did the ghost tours and carriage rides at night.

Just one suggestion, You could also shoot up to Charlottesville VA, hit the NC coast and go to Wilmington NC, the mountains of Asheville NC...

So many great options... Congratulations on your anniversary!

Best Wishes,
Matt
