Looks like round 2 of the winter weather is coming. And just what the schools need, more closings.

Some of the local weather guessers are saying the Triangle isn't due for anything more than a "trace to a dusting". Several more prominent models have us getting considerably more....6" or more plus ice. I'll take the warning of the others over the locals any day.

I saw a few snowflakes out my window. Expecting Wake County schools to announce they are closing any minute now ...

The "weather people" GUESS what is going to happen. How many times have they been WRONG?

Wake County has to GUESS how bad the roads will be so they can insure the safety of all the students so if they close early, so be it.

There are so many things that are crazy in this world and are upsetting. Should early closings be one of them? Getting upset over things that we have no control over, like the weather, seems rather useless to me!

Having said that, I am going to show homes in Cary, as scheduled, unless I see 2 inches or more of snow, on the ground!!! LOL

It's above 40 degrees and isn't going to get near freezing until much later tonight. It may be falling as snow, but it's melting before it hits the ground.

Nearly every time, regarding winter weather.

Schools won't close early today. But I bet there's a delay tomorrow. Gonna freeze up tonight. We're going to end up with several inches of a snow/ice mix according to several experts not working at WRAL. No, I do not trust WRAL for local winter weather.

I'll bite. If you expect them to predict the weather exactly, then yes, they will be wrong nearly every time. but this is actually round 3 for us, and they were pretty close on 1&2. I think they had us on the border of 2-4 and 3-6 inches last time, and we got about 2, but it was enough to keep the roads pretty messed up for about 36 hours. I'd say that as far as useful information goes, they were pretty much right.

As for this "round":
Well, I've planned a vacation for about two months, and I'm supposed to drive out of town early on Thursday AM. So forget about the experts, forget about the folks at WRAL, MURPHY says it's gonna snow enough to impead outbound traffic.

Just went outside for lunch. It's hitting the ground ... and then melting.
