The fireworks lasted longer than I thought they would, and they had what I thought was the finale early on but then they had another finale. Maybe this is how it's done in the US these days, I think was the first fireworks I've seen here in decades.
Got there a little after 7, no issue parking, finding a place for chairs took a bit, people were a lot closer than had hoped so stayed at the back of the crowds, the orchestra was good though the singing portion went on a bit long, getting out took some time but that was to be expected.
I agree, and with or without, too many people too tightly together is not a good idea.
Who knows what is being dispersed into the air and what is being picked by from one's lungs in these situations. Something my other half even mentioned last night.
It will be interesting to see the state of the nation after a few weeks.
Even with vax I'm not 100% sure I want to deal with crowds.
And remember no vax for kids under 15 yet. Still need 2-3 months according to medical experts. By that time, it's gonna be fall and temperature is getting lower plus the Halloween is coming. We could be in grave dangerous once again. We need to at least try to avoid Halloween. So our new president promised things would be back to normal next spring. I doubt it.
Meanwhile, one more day for 4th stuff, contemplated the Holly Springs event but it's a bit far and was hoping for something closer to Raleigh. I wouldn't go back to something of the magnitude of yesterday's event though.

There's no vax for kids under 12 yet. Kids aged 12-15 became eligible for the vaccination in May. Our biggest problem is adults who aren't vaccinating. Here in North Carolina only 56% of adults 18+ are vaccinated, according to the NCDHHS site. We need that number to be at 70% or so. States in New England with very high vaccination rates will be sitting pretty in the fall.

Like michgc said, all of you are still afraid of even going to outdoor functions - your problem is not kids who are not vaccinated. It's the dumb adults, HALF OF THE POPULATION IN NC, who do not want to get the vaccine. You should try convincing and talking to them first.
And 2nd, keeping everything shut down is not a solution. Those of us who want to do things, let us do so without judgement.
Back on the + side of the topic, tonight's HS fireworks were nice from the Manor Booth neighborhood, just parked in a development and pulled out the chairs, was a really nice atmosphere and perfect weather.
