Sorry for not updating sooner. I appreciate all the responses - although I must admit I got a little lost on the legal stuff.
We e-mailed our agent and said we were unwilling to pay for the oil since it had been 5 weeks since closing and we had utilized most of our funds to fix the plumbing/sewage problem that our plumber feels the previous owners had to have known about (he said the toilet had not been used for at least 3 months). We have not heard back from her - not even to tell us she had relayed the message to the seller's agents. So we are trying not to worry about it at this point.
We have no time to worry about it. They also left us with carpenter ant infestation which has been lots of fun to deal with. Our inspector did not pick up on that. Good Times.
Thanks again for taking the time to respond!
Did you have a termite inspection in addition to a home inspection?
When you sell a used car do you asked to be reimbursed for the gas in the tank? No. With nothing stated in the contract they have no recourse. Sent them a quart of Castrol GTX and tell them that's the best you could do
