Has to have fruit in it which makes it chunky, either blueberries or a banana.

I prefer old fashioned or steel cut on the thick side with a dollop of dark honey.

Oats are a favorite food of ours. Sometimes we have it sweet and sometimes savory.
Sweet oats we use butter, milk, and a slight dash of maple syrup, and nuts, fruit if available.
Savory oats usually has butter, parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, garlic and turmeric or other seasonings depending on the mood.

That's a good idea topping it with an egg.

sometimes I switch to savory grits and do them the same as described above. Grits are perfect with a fried egg on the side.

It's all good fiber which warrants having it with a hot fluffy buttered biscuit and a glass of OJ on the side.

Only steel cut... never rolled oats. Thicker vs. thinner. Usually stir in some peanut butter or almond butter, sliced bandanas, blueberries, slivered almonds.

My husband has always been a savory oatmeal fan. His thought is that if grits can be served with cheese, hot sauce, etc., so can any grain.

Whole grain oats--our Scottish neighbor just got us some. Cooked the old fashioned way on the stove and I like it creamy with a bit of brown sugar and some almond slivers.

McCann's Irish Oatmeal with fruit and a small amount of light cream. Sometimes, I'll add maple syrup or agave.

I like steel cut oats. McCann's. I like them creamy but firm. Never soupy.
