Ok, so I was thinking it would be great to have some steel-cut oats ready to go every morning. My workday starts at 6 am, so I'm not really wanting to do any major cooking in the morning though.
If I make a big batch of oatmeal on a Sunday night, will I be ok putting it into 5 Pyrex containers and heating them up every morning? Or will it get super sludgy/slimy and gross?
I actually don't cook ours. I put in a large bowl and add the water and by morning it has softened and can be quickly heated (you just want to get it warm and take the chill out) and ate. We avoid the slime/goo that way.
I put some raw (old-fashioned) rolled oats in a deep bowl, add apple juice until it's just level with the oats, and let it sit overnight. It can sit for days, too. When I want to eat some I just stir it a bit and put plain yogurt on top. Yum.
Optional: you can add nuts and/or raisins. You can warm it up in the microwave.
More toward the thicker side, along with a sprinkle of nutmeg
