In all modesty (ha), I must say I am a very good cook! I get lots of requests for potlucks. My Mexican lasagne is popular, as are my killer brownies. My brownie recipe was my mom's - made with cocoa instead of baker's bar chocolate. Easy recipe; fabulous brownies!
Oh, and then there are my pies. I always make pies from scratch, again using my mom's recipe for the crust.
[quote=Mooseketeer;14537719] My Rabbit with Mustard and White wine also has garnered a certain following ( our Finnish friends never had rabbit and now are firm addicts of little Thumper in a Pot) . . .[quote]
Yes please especially the brownies one as I need a good brownies recipe
Me, me ! Raised hand here ! Brownies are yummilicious ! The best ones I have ever had have always been home-made by "regular" people rather than restaurants or cafes.
I remember a really expensive deli in Napa valley , we bought a huge brownie there for $ 5 a piece and it sucked, really, really sucked... I was livid , almost incandescent with rage !
Considering it was supposed to be all so wonderful and gourmet it made it worse somehow. Had we not been a few miles away by the time we ate them I would have returned and demanded my money back and made a scene .
Mooseketeer, I hear you. There should be a thread like "most overrated food you ever had/biggest food disappointment you ever had".
Brownies are very delicious, but I have had some terrible (terribly expensive and terribly tasteless, worst combo ever) over the years.
It is very frustrating when you go to a place people talk so much about and the only thing you can think after trying the food is that with fame - and a huge increase in demand - quality standards went down the drain.
A while ago I tried pastiera di grano at an upscale specialty store that has been famous for a long, long time (store and its food). I had not eaten that in quite a long time, and was so excited to get it again. What a bummer, it was nothing like I used to have....
Fontucky, when someone says the word ganache divine light comes down from heaven.
