Well, just saying... Obviously, everybody's free to do whatever... I for one see no reason to "train" myself to live without sleeping. Sure, I've done it and still do it, but I don't feel all that great the following day.
In the old days, people were going to bed shortly after dusk and were up before/at dawn, which pretty much comes down to 8 hours of sleep. Probably the next "smart-alec" remark will be about them not living all that long. Guess they didn't, but they also didn't go through years and years of debilitating diseases, either, so at least they spent their lives (however short/long) healthy.
Btw, the pills are for people who CAN'T sleep and most people can, unless they do something deliberately to hamper their sleep. Most of the time I have hard time falling asleep after I've been here till all hours. You need to unwind first.
Life isn't really as difficult as some of the threads on the forum would indicate.
Don't get me wrong, life can be difficult, I was referring mostly to "problems" people seem to not be able to solve.
It seems like if you just listen to your gut instinct, that is usually right 99 percent of the time. As a add to this, it seems like usually the more difficult or uncomfortable solution is usually the "correct" one.

If we are talking about sleep, I think the most efficient sleep happens between 9pm and 12am, unfortunately none of us on this forum knows how to go to sleep at 9pm. Also, when we get older, we produce less and less melatonin, the hormone that controls our circadian rhythm. With melatonin, our sleep is deeper as well. That's why we see so many older people who have difficulty sleeping. I take montmorency tart cherry concentrate that already has naturally occuring melatonin in it. When I take it, I sleep deeply at night.
It never ceases to amaze me how the anonymity of the Internet could bring out the douchebag in so many people.
