I was talking to lamplight on this one. I think he gets the "joke" and it's certainly NOT a racial one.

I actually did expect a little higher number! But that was according to City Data. It didn't list Subaru/Jetta/Westfalia owner statistics, though.

No need to jump on the race bandwagon and scream racism. I, unfortunately think far to many people get upset.

Who gives a f.... someone prefers whites over another race or whatever it happens to be, people are attracted to whatever they are attracted to.

I don't like white and Hispanic women because it is somehow 'better' or whatever.. I just like what I like.... end of story.

I see beautiful non white women all of the time.. I just prefer a certain type.

If that makes me racist... then we need to redefine what racism is......
I think it is also interesting to think about the why behind our preferences. Personally, I am trying to be a little more open minded about my preferences.

I figured out, personally, there were probably a few internal reasons I wasn't into white guys. Part of it as appearance (I don't like pale guys, but obviously not all white people are pale) and the other reason was because I feel like many white people are oblivious to white privilege. And They wouldn't necessarily understand what it is like to be a person of color in the US. And pretty much anyone in any other ethnic group would.

I felt like I needed to spend more time figuring this out for myself, to understand my reasoning to make sure it wasn't a form of bias on my part. (Generally speaking, I have also always had a fair number of white friends -- male and female -- as well)

Yup, very true. Especially in Oakland. Everyone lives here!

The why behind preferences is always interesting.

I've always dated white men, but a big part of that is that I don't really have any non-white people as close friends or anything else.

But this past week I went out on two dates with a guy who is half white half Hispanic.

I'm American of black Caribbean descent.

I would say San Francisco and Fremont are quite diverse. Alameda County more then any other county there.

I find SF to be diverse, but segregated. Only certain people go to certain neighborhoods or night spots. Oakland is a lot more mixed up. Haven't spent a ton of time in Fremont since it is suburbia. But there's definitely a huge range of ethnic groups there. Not sure how mixed up it is though.
