It would be your choice whether or not to get involved with them. Different professions come with different lifestyles.

I've been called a "professional do-gooder" in a way that was intended as condescending, not complimentary, and it's been implicated (and outright stated, in the case of at least two exes) that I'm stupid for doing a job that pays crap, and the fact that I am personally dedicated to the work is immaterial.
Oh I do remember you saying that once before.

I have the utmost respect for your job. I teach in a suburban, well-to-do school and while we do have a population of students with emotional and behavioral problems, none are severe enough that they can't be included and integrated into a classroom setting.

I'm sure your job is draining both physically and emotionally but very rewarding as well. Kudos to you!

Something creative, just because I'm fairly certain I'm gonna end up working a rather boring white collar career and want somebody to balance it out! Or something selfless, e.g. a special education teacher like TabulaRasa.

I'm totally the opposite. I like a guy with a creative streak, and the law/military guys I've met have been much too aggressive, macho, and often have a kind of God complex.

Attracted to? Anything with a uniform, really. Healthcare workers (scrubs), blue collar workers (jumpsuits), military or police.

Other than a vague preference for uniforms, I don't care much as long as they're not *******s or gone all the time.

I like power positions though (CEO, VP..). I find the alpha in the working world intriguing, probably because I am the polar opposite of that personality type.
Those guys tend to be sales'ish type personalities too though...promoting and pushing agendas for entire companies of course.

I get what you're saying though. Lots of people find sales personality to be overbearing and too much.
