People in sales are a turn-off for me. At first glance they are smooth talkers, charming, gregarious which are nice qualities that easily suck you in, until you realize they are probably doing it to YOU as well. I'd pass on anyone that works on commission if I were single.
I like power positions though (CEO, VP..). I find the alpha in the working world intriguing, probably because I am the polar opposite of that personality type.
Most of the CEOs, Presidents and EVPs that I know are salesman or started out in sales. Even if they weren't in actual sales, the majority of them are great pitchmen.
And I'm cool with commission and bonuses...assuming there's a decent base salary.
I had an Ex who had a law degree and was in sales. One of the last things I said to her was I'd rather not even be friends.
My husband is an executive in sales...aka a salesman. He thought about law (and would have been great at it), but he decided better of it because you don't break even until you're 40.
I generally gravitated towards those in law enforcement or the military and found myself turned off by those in "creative" fields, such as writing, music, etc..
