Unlike most of the earlier comments, am suggesting that you give this girl a break and make contact. Post #4 got it right, making amends is something she needs to do. The fact that after 2 years she has made the effort to contact you does show sincerity, form letter email or not. Alcoholics are selfish and everything is about them, not others. They can be extremely cruel and hurtful to those closest to them, often those that they say they care about and love.
When an alcoholic sobers up they usually become very different persons, and view things in a different light. Making contact would be a win-win situation, with no losers. Would suggest a casual meeting like coffee in a public place, not a formal date, and just chat for awhile. Giving the young lady a chance to say she is sorry would surely help her on the road to recovery. For you? Who knows, perhaps seeing the newer, more mature, sober her might trigger a renewed romantic interest that might even lead to something very good.
