We think Walt is about 13 or 14 but not sure of his exact age.
The Humane Society told us he was about a year old when we got him but we are sure he was closer to 2 or 3 years old.
He is an old boy who gets puppy brain and runs around still like a pup then pays for it for a week afterwards.

Good rule with any dog, especially a dominant one. Making eye contact tells him you're a follower, not a leader.

Within a few minutes he came over to where I was sitting and nudged my arm like "um, I do live here why did you ignore me" and I was able to give him 3 treats and pet his head.

And as you can see, it worked!!

BTW, I LOVE Rooster, AND his name!!

He isn't so bad but I think we still need to get used to each other a wee bit more which will come with time, age and tolerance for both of us.

How you doing so far Mags? Holding up okay?

Just keep up with the ignoring him part when you come in the house. At least for several minutes. It'll let him know you're the boss.

I'm okay, but we'll see how I'm doing on hour 9 of this shift. lol
Thanks for asking.

Walter had another one of his "I forgot to keep breathing" episodes last night but we got him a "natural" supplement to help ease his joint pain.
The dose was 3 small chews which I gave him then I went to bed and sometime in the night he jumped up with me.
When I woke up about 2:30 am I went to pet him and he was not breathing.
It took about a dozen good hard shakes to get him back so no more of those chews for him and no more of any of that type of stuff for him.

Are some people really so stubborn that they refuse to acknowledge that they are indeed wrong or are they just that stupid?

I was just thinking about the names of all the animals in our families:

Walter, Cailleach, Suze Quze, Marble, Molly, Missy, Rounder, Rooster, Miss Kitz, Topie, Maximillian, Ferdinand, Tojo, Sam, Smudge, Mocha, Mindy, and Carmel.

Five Cats, all girls (Cailleach, Suze Quze, Miss Kitz, Smudge, Carmel.
Two Cats, boys: Maximillian, Ferdinand
The rest dogs: the girls are Marble, Molly, Missy, Mocha and Mindy, I forgot Topie, she is a girl.
The rest of the dogs are boys: Walter, Rounder, Rooster, Tojo, Sam
