Every time is see the title of this post I giggle thinking about people "heavy petting" in public. Clearly "heavy petting" means different things to different people.

Its called decency and common sense.
I am a parent myself and I spend a lot of time around my kid/their friends/other parents/teachers/school/etc. There is a line, PS, and you know it. How'd you like your 5 y/o daughter coming home to vividly describe some lady sucking down a guy's tonsils in front of her? Not so great, right.
I do it in bars, 'adult' aged concerts or somewhere where kids aren't staring.
A quick kiss, fine.
Nothing else.
I would explain to her that adults do that when they love each other. Children take things naturally. It's adults who put shame and embarrassment in their heads.

Yeah, no one wants to see someone and their equally unattractive SO all over each other like they just both got out of prison.
I don't mind the hand holding, occasional quick pecks or appropriate touching. I even think when a guy puts his arm around his SO is kinda cute. But I don't want to see your hand squeezing on any part of your SO's body that would get you slapped and arrested if it was a stranger, especially if it's PDA going down at a food place.
This goes for social media, too. I don't want to be scrolling down my timeline and see you and your SO naked in bed together. My (least) favorite are the posts in which someone is trying to make their followers jealous?? "Yeah, this is my woman", as they lie naked in bed together.
Like bro, don't worry, nobody else wants her.
