If you are still looking to hook up at a bar, what I have observed that works is familiarity.
Once people see you as a regular or local rather than just someone stranger passing through and take notice, they tend to have their guard down. The only thing working against me is that I'm good friends with the bartender (we are talking all the time). So a lot of patrons think we are hooking up.. (we are not). She hooks up with other guys but they all have something in common.. all patrons/friends she has known. I guess I'm just not her type...lol.

Look, just take up a hobby that women like, like cooking or knitting or sewing or something. Join a club and go to meetings. Ask ladies to show you how to do stuff. Theres a young guy in our fiber arts association and he really stands out. Not all of the members are old ladies either.

How about joining Habitat for Humanity? Theres plenty of women there who would like to swing a guy's hammer. Doing something to help others says you are a good guy.

The important thing is not to lie. Surely there are dudes out there who want to learn how to throw pots or knit or decorate cakes, and taking advantage of being one of the only guys in the class isn't such a terrible thing.
When we had to take home ec in high school, there was one guy in my class (most of them took wood shop.) He said, "my buddies made fun of me for taking this, but it's more useful, and they're in a room full of sweaty dudes and I'm not."
OK heres another idea. Do you like dogs? I hope so because dogs and dog people are very sociable. They take their dogs for walks in parks, they ask each other about their dogs. Like what breed is it? They want to tell about each other about their dogs. They ask advice how to train their dogs. Don't just get a dog for chick bait though. Thats not fair to the dog. Also, if you have a dog, you won't be lonesome.
