I've been to Super Bowl parties as a single person loads of times. It's a room full of friends watching TV and eating snacks. Honestly, the only torturous part was the football. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My husband likes it fine, but we're pretty low-key people and typically exchange cards and chocolate and order takeout. We'll probably watch a couple movies while we enjoy our takeout.

^^This. We never made a big deal about Valentine’s Day, especially with having to both get up for work the next day, and not always being in the same zip code anyway.
Why do so many men not like valentine's day? Is it because they think women have expectations?
Because it is a made up commercialized holiday. Some women put too much emphasis on the day and men feel pressured into it. If you love someone you don't need a made up day to show it.
My DH and I don't do holidays but I know he cherishes me everyday with how he treats me and what he says to me. Same goes for him. We don't need a calendar to tell us what and when we should feel for each other.

Here's a hint guys: if it is one sided then leave. Consider Valentine's Day a gift that shows you what type of woman you are dating.

Sometimes people need to take personal responsibility for the crappy situations they end up in. I get you never truly know a person, but if you continuously keep getting involved with crappy people who do nothing but take, some introspection is in order.
As the saying goes: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
