Ok, maybe Scrabble for me. But then, my only worthy opponent lives in another state now. She was the only one who could beat me about 50/50.
I have to agree with AKgirlinCA, because we absolutely do. But I have to say that it makes me feel extremely sad when it's time to move on. I have recently come to this conclusion with a close friend as we have simply gone different directions and don't seem to have much in common anymore, so it's time to say goodbye.
This thread reminds of the saying "When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things."
I love speed. Walking fast, driving fast and roller coasters are the ultimate! (My love of speed has nothing to do with my screen name, it's just a coincidence).
Yesterday, I sadly discovered that I have outgrown my beloved roller coasters. (moment of silence)
Has anyone else discovered they've outgrown something they loved?
Hmm? Were we in the same amusement park yesterday?
Yes, I've moved on from many things. Friends I thought I'd grow old with, authors I swore I'd never tire of, hobbies that once made me feel good and, sadly, amusement parks. Though I do get to enjoy those, vicariously, through my kids now but that too shall fade. It's part of life. Have a moment of silence for things now gone and embrace what's new. Every age has it's good points and it's bad. The trick is to enjoy them all.
I went to Knott's Berry Farm. It was fun in spite of my discovery.
I was at Cedar Pointe, half a continent away from you. I got my kids to go on one of the old roller coasters. I let them go on the new ones. Uh, no way...ain't happening... I don't have the stomach for it anymore.
Funny, my younger daughter (11) wasn't afraid of anything except the Ferris wheel. She was petrified the car was going to fall. First ride she's ever shied away from and she's been going on them all since she had to make sure she wore shoes with thick soles to make the cut. Go figure.
Boomerang is great. I didn't get to go on the new ones last time we were there. The lines were wayyyy too long!
