you guys sound so much like the muslims...in the way they talk about muhammed. There are real similarities and I encourage mormons to talk to muslims to see that.
Yes, there are certain similarities. Both of our faiths represent a way of life. We stress modesty, we both prohibit alcohol, we both fast, we both tithe, and we both emphasize strong family values. In both faiths, God is a revelator; he is revealed. We both recognize the importance of prophets. We both believe in the physical resurrection of the dead. We discourage the use of idols and emphasize simplicity in our worship. There are also many differences, of course, but that goes without saying. The main one is the fact that Mormons believe that it is only through Jesus Christ than one can be saved. We see Jesus Christ as the Only Begotten Son of God and our Savior; Muslims see Him only as a great prophet.
Christianity is a multi-theistic religion. Father? Son? Holy Spirit?
You guys pray to multiple gods.
I pray to exactly the same individual Jesus Christ did when He said, "After this manner pray ye... Our Father which art in Heaven." He also told us to that "Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you." So we pray exactly in the way Jesus instructed us to.
Both mormons and muslims have extended (or varied) the teachings of Jesus to include their own.
Well, from an outsider's perspective, I can see where that would appear to be the case. From our perspective, we are teaching only those things that Jesus Christ taught, but which were lost over time. In other words, we believe that not everything He ever said was recorded and found its way into the Bible. Of course, the Bible itself backs us up on that idea.
Joseph Smith is not a prophet, not according to the Bible. It is very straightforward, and the mormon belief is contrary to the Bible. No different than Camping's message.
Could you explain that statement? If it's all that straightforward, a whole lot of people managed to have missed it. Mormon belief, when correctly understood, is very much in line with the Bible. It complements the Bible and responds to some of the questions that the Bible leaves unanwered, but it never contradicts the Bible. It is a Christ-centered religion. How could a Christ-centered religion be contrary to the Bible?
Like: SLC is a very clean city, Mormons seem trustable and rather healthy.
Dislike: Too conservative, very anti-gay, seem quick to toss people, including family members, under the bus if they don't follow a strict, Mormon path or leave the church.
How can mormons be so successful and happy when their beliefs are clearly misguided??[/quote]
ROFL! I read Angela's Ashes not long ago. In it, Frank McCourt talks about watching the pretty Protestant girls all dressed up and laughing and having a good time and he can't understand how they could do that when they know they are doomed.

Catholics believe this also, although about different things.
