It definitely is pagan. The Jews don't believe that god can become man, because it would corrupt god's true nature, which is spirit. For the pagans, though, that wasn't a problem, so if god became man(as the adherents of christianity believe) it would only make sense. And to eat of his body and drinking his blood....even better!
Yay. The Mithra myth again. No. It's not based on Mithra. Mithra is based on Jesus. The prophecies about the Jewish Messiah have been around since the beginning of time (Genesis 3). Mithra is one societies myth that they developed off of it.

Seriously...you truly should take the time to study the ancient origins of religions before spouting that nonsense. Mithra was around long before Christianity as were all the other Pagan religions that Christianty syncretized into their own...don't try to pull a Justin Martyr and think we are going to let you get away with it.

Your right Jesus isn't based on Mithra, Mithra was the old-Iranian god of light, contracts and friendship, No Pagan Gods died for the sins of mankind There are A LOT of similarities between the Pagan Gods & the Christian God though. The story of Jesus dieing for the sins of man was unique but if you do the research & read things like the parables of Buddha & the teachings of Christ you would be surprised how similar they really are. Even more so to know that the parables of Buddha were written some 500 B.C, IF you can aside your religious biased ideas. Sorry but in all reality Paganism is the world oldest religion. The oldest written text is Hinduism much, much older then the bible is.

All these religions share commonalities, because they all emanated from the same mind.....the human brain. We all suffer, love, experience death, etc.....so it'd only make sense that all these ancient religions would be somewhat similar. Sure, they have breaking off points when they go into the more mysterious realms concerning the afterlife and such....but the similarities far outweigh the silly dogmatisms.

Yes, they were created from the minds of man but that doesn't mean they are not true it's very possbile that the powers that be "whatever you wish to call them" placed the idea that somone greater then ourselfes is out there.

Wow. 500 bc? There were prophecies of the Messiah coming and dying well before that.

There are definitely some nuggets of truth in them, since those nuggets sprouted from the human mind....but then when they start heading down the rabbit hole of the mysterious....well, you just gotta go

I said teachings not prophecies so your point is moot & to millions of Jews all over the world Jesus never came. Just because Christians believe that he did doesn't mean he was here. I think it's very possible that Jesus was real but he tried to teach people who to live in peace & love some how the Christians saw this & ran with it.
