You receive the rent on the 7th instead of the 1st or 2nd? I'm asking because I discovered that my last paycheck for September is on 9/24 which is a little early for paying rent. So I figured I can pay on 10/7 which is still the first week of October.

So would you really care if you were a landlord and you got the rent check on the 7th from a tenant who usually send it on the 1st or 2nd?

Why have you created two threads on exactly the same subject in two different forums? And why don't you just ask your landlord? Or read your lease as you may be subject to late fees ... Doh.

I would not care because you would be paying a late fee and I make more money

If the rent is due on the first, you pay it on the 1st.

So what? You are obligated to pay your rent on time. If there is ANY bill which should be a priority to pay, it should be the bill you pay to keep a roof over your head. Better check your lease, mine has serious monetary penalties for paying after the grace period.

From your LL's point of view - they have bills to pay, too. Pay your rent.

If you go to buy a house a mortgage company will look at your payment history and paying late will cost you there.

Go right ahead. The grace period extends to the 5th, pay it on the 7th, incur a late fee and a blot on your payment record and have done with it. Discussion over.

As a LL, I would issue the eviction notice the day the grace period is over and recind it only when the rent and ALL late fees are paid. As a LL, if I receive the rent early, dated the first, I would hold onto it until it is due...the 1st.
You decide what's best for you.
