However, that blinders-on mentality allowed me to retire in my late forties because I worked my tail off and invested wisely. Now I'm living the good life while those who didn't put in the effort will work until they're 65+ or until their dying days because they lived freely, didn't save, didn't put in the effort, had little direction.

Good for you...HOWEVER your part about " they didn't put in the effort" and " had little direction" , and the over all indication I was lazy ? If that is so , I do feel offended because I DID work 70-80 hour weeks , week ends, sometimes 24-7 . Unless you have owned your business you may not understand. ,it was YOU that expressed you missed out on some the" free living "as you call it. I did my own thing for over 40 years, that counts for Somthing. I still have income from my retirement endeavors , eBay Power Seller, author/ book royalties , and income from 50 per cent ownership small logistics company I started long ago.

Author/book royalties? There are at least 15 typos and grammatical errors in your post.

Travel more when you can. Don't wait to do everything in retirement.
Make new friends, the old ones may move away, die off, or just become
Unfriendly.
Of course save as much as you can!
