I'm confused. I thought this was the "creativity" thread - not photos and artwork . . . the thread takes too long to load with the huge photos. I personally like to see some photos, but I thought this was going to be more eclectic "creativity." I don't want to see "professional" photos on this particular thread. Just my preference for consideration, while things are being sorted out.

Now I'm the one confused.....I have no photos loading....only links........which is the considerate way to do it.

Well so far i have not seen any professional pics on this thread. We are amateurs ourselves.

Links are a pain and on photo sites threads with links get little use. Most want the photos to come up without jumping elsewhere.

It is rare i will ever hit a photo link in a thread especially if it goes to flicker which is horrible to navigate through a link.

I am using a 6 year old computer and a slow cable modem and have no trouble loading anything from sites.

If anyone is still using dial up then they can not expect the times to stand still and cater to them because they have not changed.

As far as this thread i have no clue what is supposed to go up here. I assumed it was photos of the things we did.

In new england what are you saying, the thread should only be for those that can't use their camera at a level that it produces finished looking photos?

Any camera in the hands of someone who can use it can make excellent photos, even with a point and shoot.

At what skill level should they stop posting here?

Even on photography forums you have people at all different levels who post. One persons skills have nothing to do with anyone elses.

I see photos, lots of beautiful photos, but I was hoping this thread would be for a few photos at a time and for people with ordinary cameras taking pictures in ordinary places. I'd like to see hometowns and things that people do on a regular basis. Down to earth. Vacation photos too, but more shots that don't intimidate the non-photo experts into not posting because they only have a cheap camera or they don't have great photographic expertise.

There's an entire photography forum where people can post all the photos they want and discuss expensive cameras and other equipment. It's just my opinion, but we are talking about opinions.

This still came out too big but anyway it's a picture I took this spring not far from where I live. The old house appealed to me because of its age and well kept condition and it has a fence that makes you think you're peeking in. In some ways it reminds me of the house I grew up in. Plain ordinary cheap camera.

It is never the camera. It is all about the skills of the people behind the camera.

Marilyn and i are amateurs and we have a gallery devoted to just our point and shoots.

One of the point and shoots we use is a first generation 3 meg camera.

You would be hard pressed to tell it wasn't our regular gear and it is all done in camera too.

Oh yes mathjak I was kidding. I know it's all about the person behind the lens.

in_newengland, I don't think there is anything wrong with people posting photos even if they are better than all of ours. LOL. I think the purpose of this thread is for people to share photos they have personally taken. Whether it's with their iphone (like most of mine) or higher end stuff.

I realize that we won't be able to please 100% of the people 100% of the time and that is ok as well. I just think that this would be a good place for those to share any personal photos they have taken. Whether it's of vacations they are taking or have recently taken, everyday life or of artwork or hobbies that they have created. As long as people are posting things they actually took or created I think it's all good.

There is something that has always been quite beautiful about a photo. Whether it's an old building or a gorgeous scenery.

In my experience on Internet forums (and I've been part of them since the Internet began), there will ALWAYS be things to complain about on these types of threads. I'm hopeful that people will keep any arguments or complaints or fighting or bickering away from this thread and just enjoy the simplicity of "art".

This way anyone that doesn't like photos or taking time for the thread to load can stay clear of this thread.

Is there a possibility of having a "Creativity" thread, along the lines of what NewEnglandGirl suggested? Something more eclectic, personal, and inclusive (of anything deemed "creative")?
