LOL. I've been vegetarian and still eat a lot of vegetarian and vegan meals, so I'm not anti, but my mom is 90 and her doctors keep telling her to eat more meat. She is on dialysis and her protein levels are always too low. She has eggs every day for breakfast trying to get the protein up.
So your statement may be true for some, but it's not a one-size-fits-all solution.
Jeez something must be wrong with me. Don't think about this stuff at all. Don't try to analyze family longevity, trends, averages, worry about being an exception to them, nothing. It will happen when it happens. When someone I know dies, I say farewell, think back over my memories of them and miss them, but don't speculate about the rest of it at all. Maybe people who do are anxious because they've left a lot of things undone/unsaid/unresolved in their lives.
Me, either. Why waste time and emotions dwelling on the subject?
Planned enough to not leave a mess for anyone, hopefully. That's about it. No regrets.
Our friends who have died suddenly or unexpectedly could have possible avoided dying if they had only visited a doctor in the last few years and had a check up.

On other retirement forum, there’s some nutcase(yes really) who dared to suggest a vegetarian diet would help you with Alzheimer’s. Goodness such a crock suggestion. My brother’s FIL was a vegetarian and he died with some brain problem, it could be lewd disease. If anything, the brain is all fat, eating more fat might help. Heck, that’s my theory and I have no proof at all, but I keep eating bacon just in case.

Sorry, that still doesn't beat the guy on City-Data who insisted that apple cider vinegar can prevent menopause.

If only, if only... they didn't, they died. It happened, for them, the way it was supposed to. Done.
