I'm kind of wondering when my mother's memory care facility is going to go into full quarantine mode. I think it's better to err on the side of caution.

Talking to my SIL yesterday. Her mother's facility is restricting visitors and also doing some other things around trying to keep large groups from forming around meal times.
This is nothing new, we’ve been doing this for a while now and when we’re sick, we don’t go out and spread. Also the people that we come in contact with are much older than we are, they have a compromised immune system, we worry about them, not just us. It’s called common sense to aging. No, I don’t distrust CDC, however I think they do make mistakes sometime.
IMO this is just common sense. While I'd love to trust the CDC unconditionally, I maintain a healthy skepticism in regards to this agency as yet another political arm of whatever administration happens to be in power. I saw how that worked when my employer worked with them on several projects years ago. In any case, they're right about this, IMO.
CNN,on the other hand........well, I wouldn't trust the time of day if I got it from them.
I have tickets for myself and my 94 year old mom to visit my niece in Madrid, Spain the first week in April. It's looking like we're going to have to bail out. I hope American Airlines decides to waive their re-booking penalties, but I'll bite the bullet anyway I guess.
What I worry about with foreign travel is not that we're any more likely to pick it up over there than at home, but the danger of being quarantined far from home.

There are too many OTHER people going out while sick, and some who don't know they are sick. You do not want to encounter them while you are out. That is why going to crowded places has become dangerous for older people.
Well, I agree. But I would hate to inadvertently spread something that I did not know I had, either. For me it cuts both ways. I think staying home is part of being a good citizen now. We don't want to become infected, and we don't want to pass something on, either.
Some people will have minor symptoms that could be caused by a mild form of the virus. They could be unwittingly passing the virus on to someone else who has other health problems.
I have made the decision to forgo two events so far. I am thinking hard about two others. I have trouble making the decision. But if I decide not to go, I know I am not going to harm someone else, or be harmed myself.
We have decided that we aren't giving up going to the gym, or the grocer--yet.
I hibernate during the flu months anyway since I'm not able to get a flu shot and I'm high risk.
Yeah, stay home as much as possible. Take care of yourself.
