Anyone paying attention to this thread would know that all of the places you mentioned are perfectly safe. And that has been constantly pointed out throughout the thread. Note all of the crime maps that have been posted.
Spot on, redplum. This thread remains an excellent resource for those seeking neighborhood safety info, or lack thereof. My best guess is that poster never intended to visit Providence in the first place.
The BS comes from the posters who talk up South Providence for personal gain.
As well as those making absurd statements about Olneyville being a "safe" cultural mecca, CHAD BROWN being safer than the Providence College area, Mt. Hope being a safe desirable neighborhood, etc.
The first murder happened at Revel Lounge and Bistro at 162 O'Connell Street in Lower South Providence. O'Connell Street runs between Allens Ave and Eddy Street. The Truth Lounge also has the address 162 O'Connell Street. The 2 lounges may be connected or perhaps even the same place.
The other murder happened at the Cumberland Farms at 744 Branch Ave in the Wanskuck neighborhood. It is next to the McDonald's where problems occur frequently.
Man was shot in Warwick, in the area of Blackburn St. That is the run down looking neighborhood off of Jefferson Blvd., sort of opposite the train station parking garage. There was recently a discussion in another thread, about neighborhoods to avoid in Warwick. That should have been one of them.
This is also very near to the Proclamation Ale Company.
In addition to the 2 murders (#17 and #18) this weekend, there were several other violent incidents in Providence.
-- Someone was stabbed at the Burger King on Broad Street & Lockwood Street in Upper South Providence. The BK is across the street from Providence Career & Technical Academy (aka PCTA).
-- Someone was brutally assaulted with a baseball bat on Salmon Street in Olneyville. The person suffered heavy trauma to the head and is intubated at Rhode Island Hospital. This presumably happened at the Manton Heights housing projects ("A Family Community").
-- And there was an armed carjacking on India Street in Fox Point.
"Shortly before 11 PM on Saturday, police responded to India Street for a report of a carjacking.
A female victim told police she was sitting in her car by the walking bridge talking on the phone with friends, when a car pulled up -- and two men approached her vehicle.
She said one of the men -- who was masked -- was holding a gun, and demanded she get out of the car.

I wonder where the MANTON HEIGHTS "camera crew" was on this evening. I mean they "care so much" about their neighbors, they HAD to have been standing by when this poor dude was getting the snot beat out of him with a baseball bat...no???
It has been brought to my attention that some posters feel carjacking and baseball bat beatings don't belong in this thread, and that it should be exclusively shootings and stabbings.
I disagree but I'd like to hear what others think about this.
Homicide victims in Providence have been identified.
Daniel Zairis, 24, was shot and killed outside Revel Lounge.
Andrei Bonilla, 23, was shot behind the wheel of his car on Harrell Court. He drove to Cumberland Farms on Branch Ave and died when he crashed into a guard rail.
Andrew Mangru, 22, is the suspect in the Andrei Bonilla murder. Mangru shot Bonilla because Bonilla was with Mangru's girlfriend (or ex-girlfriend) in the car. After the shooting, Mangru beat up the girl.
