Black men are killing each other and BLM wants Bozo to "do something". AND abolish the police. And this makes perfect sense to today's liberals defending the "noble cause" of this "movement". Let's give 'em what they want and have police stop responding into Black neighborhoods.

And East Side "Liberals" here are complaining that patrol cars don't arrive fast enough for after hours leaf blowers. Please, for the love of god, MLSA.

If you've been following this thread, I don't understand how you can say there's been a reduction.

If any of you right wingers learn how to read, you might want to read the studies on how much higher crime is during summer months ever year. Upwards of 35%, though most crimes see a 10% increase. Start with the Bureau of Labor Statistics 2014 study and go from there. Or hey, watch corporate media and be scared from your basements.

Interesting that you need to quote that leftist rag from Boston to find any (supposed) indicators of Providence being safer this year than before. I mean you think some local source would note that if at all true (yet the consensus seems to be the opposite)?

Maybe Wayland Square feels safer?

Those numbers comport with the Providence Police Crime Statistics for the week ending September 27, 2020. Those same statistics show that homicide was up 33% compared to the weighted five-year average, and that aggravated assault was up 11% (vs. weighted five-year average) at that time. That is, the overall violent crime crate is down compared to five year averages, but homicide and agg. assault are not.

Historically, crime does increase in the summer and decrease when the weather cools in Providence. At least in the years I have paid attention to it.

While increases in homicide and aggravated assault are concerning, I believe that our crime rates still compare favorably with a great many cities nationwide. Perspective is key.

It's pretty difficult to keep perspective these days. The fear induced by a 24-hour "if it bleeds it leads" media cycle has been compounded by fear of coronavirus, fear of socialism, fear of authoritarianism, fear of cancellation, fear of violent rioters, fear of racism, fear of climate change, fear of fill-in-the-blank-with-a-bad-thing. Fear is irrational and polarizing, and the media and politicians use it to manipulate/prey upon people.

Given the ever-louder drumbeat of fear, and the social media evidence that people are listening to the fear mongering, I would expect crime to increase. Wouldn't you?

It is more important than ever for each of us to keep our own fear in check and to give each other the benefit of the doubt.

This BLM "genius" is "tired of the police only solving crimes". Maybe if they delivered pizza as well?
