I have no idea, funny how that happens though. It's not like it's even the occasional bloody weekend per standard, shootings and stabbings have now become a nightly routine almost. Many aren't even picked up by the news it seems.

Channel 10 updated their article about the Corliss Park (Wanskuck) triple shooting.

Police: 3 people shot inside car in Providence (watch video)

" One neighbor said he heard the gunfire around 4:30 p.m.

"It was a quick three or four bursts, pop, pop, pop, pop, then rapid succession 16 to 20 shots," he told NBC 10. "That's this neighborhood, unfortunately." "

The Corliss Park (Wanskuck) triple shooting article touched on this:

" The violence erupted hours after Providence police released the city's latest crime stats, which show aggravated assaults involving guns up 150 percent in the last month, compared to the same time last year. So far, there have been 13 homicides, compared to 14 at this time in 2019.

"The stats are not off the charts compared to last year, it really isn't," Lapatin said. "It's just all happening at once and it is an uptick. We've had upticks before and we've dealt with them and we've brought it back down and we'll do that again." "

It is more than an "uptick", IMO. The murders might not be up, but there are shots fired incidents pretty much every day.

massnative, you mentioned "nightly routine". Heck, it seems half of them are in broad daylight!

To put it in perspective folks...Worcester which has a very similar population to Providence, has so far seen 5 homicides this year.

To combat the surge in violence, a growing call for more police in the city.

NEW: Some Providence Council Members Call for More Police Staffing, Providence FOP Urges Action

https://www.golocalprov.com/news/new...fing-providenc

"On Wednesday, a group of Providence City Council members called for the reinstatement of the Providence Police academy, in light of recent violence in the city. The class had previously been delayed by Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza.
"It is clear that the City needs to support a proactive approach to policing," stated City Council Majority Leader Jo-Ann Ryan."

"City Council members Miller and Kerwin have repeatedly called for the “defunding” the Providence Police.
“The realization of what defunding police departments will look like, and the very visible lack of support shown to our law enforcement officers and community by some local politicians, has obviously already helped to embolden those with criminal intent to be more brazen and willingly challenge law enforcement authority,” wrote Imondi.
“So, time is of the essence in these requests being made by the City Council of Mayor Elorza. The FOP echoes this call on Mayor Elorza to provide our Police Department with additional necessary funding and to increase the numbers of police officers in our Department, which is necessary to address and defeat the increase in crime in our City and to help keep Providence safe … now and into the future,” added Imondi."

Not sure where this money will come from, but SOMETHING needs to be done.

Yawn

October 1, 2020

"Overall, the percentage of violent crimes and property crimes in Providence is down, 18 percent and 21 percent respectively, compared with the weighted five-year average. Nationwide and in Providence, crime is at historic lows."

And, as usual, we see the reduction of violent crime that comes with cooler weather and shorter days.

If any of you right wingers learn how to read, you might want to read the studies on how much higher crime is during summer months ever year. Upwards of 35%, though most crimes see a 10% increase. Start with the Bureau of Labor Statistics 2014 study and go from there. Or hey, watch corporate media and be scared from your basements.

So now even the Providence City Council is "right wing".

You people are a laugh riot.
