Rather than some almost-amateur crime map with no transparency about how it was created, better is https://www.crimemapping.com/map/agency/485. Data can be filtered and looks back six months if you are so inclined.
This is extremely rude and uncalled for, and you owe an apology. While the resource you linked is certainly a helpful tool and appreciated, it has clear limitations. For one, it does not let you break down each type or severity of crime. An assault is an assault, be it a pushing and shoving outside a bar or a shooting/stabbing. A weapons violation is a weapons violation, be it an unregistered handgun or shots fired. A drug offense is a drug offense, be it possession of weed or manufacturing/trafficking of fentanyl. What I did was create a useful map that only shows the major violent crime, while filtering out the petty stuff that is pretty irrelevant to this topic. The method I used was extremely simple, basically all aggravated assaults (that is the shootings/stabbings/violent armed robberies...) with a few exceptions, and shots fired. Due to their lack of application, I did not include incidents reported at institutions. It's all broken down and color coded by month. I thought I explained all of this ormari, I mean how much more "transparent" can I get with this "amateur" map?

If an apology is due anyone, it is due to the people who live and work in the neighborhoods you routinely trash. And that's the plain truth.

Happened on the border of Mt. Pleasant and Olneyville. Incident appears totally random.

Police: Man stabbed twice while taking trash out in Providence

https://www.wpri.com/news/local-news...in-providence/

"PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WRPI) — Police are investigating after a man was stabbed late Wednesday night in Providence, according to Police Commander Thomas Verdi.
Officers responding to Manton and Unit Streets around 11 p.m. say they found a man who had two stab wounds: one to the left side of his chest and the other to his left thigh.
The victim, identified as Juan Fierros, 53, said he was taking his trash out behind his apartment when he was approached by three Hispanic males approximately 18-years-old and all with short hair.
Fierros told police one of the men asked him in Spanish to use his phone while the two other men each pulled out a knife and stabbed him simultaneously before fleeing the area on foot."

Street View for Manton Ave & Unit Street: https://goo.gl/maps/gkuAMsRVfg87to7L7

This is across the street from the Manton Heights housing projects.

It is also right next to Chilangos (Mexican restaurant). DancingwithBeagles, take note.

Default Murder in Lower South Providence

At approximately 11:45pm on Thursday night, a guy was murdered on Gallup Street in Providence.

That's the notorious Broad & Prairie area in Lower South Providence.

It was the city's 15th homicide in 2020.

Default West End / Elmwood stabbing

Also on Thursday night, at about 11:30pm, there was a stabbing in Providence.

It happened at the intersection of Elmwood Ave and Whitemarsh Street.

Approximate Street View: https://goo.gl/maps/mYmYKGL97Lusd9Ev6

That's on the border of the West End and Elmwood (historic district) neighborhoods. If it happened on the side of Elmwood Ave where the gas station is, then it's the West End. It is one block from the Knight Memorial Library. As far as I know, this incident is not related to the "protesting" that was going on in the area.

Man shot to death in Lower South Providence

Said he was making a music video:

"Police said 27-year-old Dante Mann of Providence was killed on Gallup Street while he was with a group of people making a music video.

They said another group drove up at about 11:30 p.m., and then someone got out and shot at them.

Police said several shots were fired indiscriminately with the shooter not seeming to care who was hit."

Surely you jest! We are one of the worst forums on City Data. Nothing but crime stats and fights.

Jerry Springer would be envious.

And whoever said I moved to Oakland Beach is hallucinating more than usual......

Dante Mann's cousin was murdered on the same street (Gallup Street) in South Providence a couple years ago. One of Dante's rap songs is about the cousin getting killed there.
