WHCF - 88.5 - Religious programming (Started by Bangor Baptist Church back in the mid 80's)
WHSN - 89.3 - Husson College, but it is close (less than 12 miles from you)
WKSQ - 94.5 - Adult Contemporary (owned by Blueberry Broadcasting out of Augusta and Bangor)
WKIT - 100.3 - Rock (Owned by Zone Radio which consists of WZON the AM station and WKIT - owned by author Stephen King and his wife, and 24/7 local DJ's)
WVOM - 103.9 - Talk Radio (Blueberry Broadcasting again)
WBFB - 104.7 - Country (Blueberry Broadcasting)
WHMX - 105.7 Christian Contemporary (Blueberry Broadcasting)

This doesn't include several that are owned by larger corporations and carry local news either. Argyle is tiny (unincorporated) and it is rural, but it isn't that remote. Unless you consider less than 25 miles to a city of 35,000 and a couple respected colleges within 15 miles remote.
I said nothing about 'remote' you did.

The only thing 'local' about WVOM is "Hot and Cold" on Saturday mornings. Otherwise it is not about stuff going on in this state.

25 miles may be 'local' but this is Maine, not Mass. Mass traffic reports, Mass crime, and Mass politics, is not local traffic, crime, or politics. With the exception of "Hot and Cold", WVOM is focused on a different state.

And it is among the strongest stations that we get.
WVOM 103.9
WHCF 88.5
and MPBN

You know you live in a small town when the guys on the fire truck ask you for directions to the fire!

Seriously, this actually happened to me

Where did you move from/how large of a town?

I guess I've never lived in any fairly small town where the fire siren wasn't used. It also serves to tell the locals to look out & stay out of the way.

We moved to a town of 177 people - that has another family in town, where the male has the same 1st and last name - no relation. His wife also has a first name that begins with the same letter as mine! So we are "The OTHER _____ ______". We even put it on our housewares that we take to the suppers, so everyone automatically knows. The 'new folks' at the feed store were having a problem figuring out whose bill was whose - but the owner told them how to tell the difference. "These people always pay cash, that other family has a credit account". Works for me.

You come home from vacation and find your lawn mowed and dishes washed and have no idea who did it.

The UPS van delivers all packages to the grain elevator, 'cause that's the only real address. The residents all use P.O. boxes.
