68. G Street Cafe - I've never been. 9th and G Streets, seems like one of those good downtown work place joints for a quick lunch.

Some East Sacramento places, just beyond the Grid:

69. Brickland - 3301 Folsom Blvd - Full bar, nice outdoor seating along Folsom

70. Allora - 5512 Folsom Blvd - Seafood, Italian, nice setting, pricey. Nice wines.

71. Canon - 1719 34th Street - I'm pretty sure this placed had a few Michelin stars at one time or still does, We tried years ago, never been back probably because too pricey. Interesting space with an outdoor patio. "Chic, Cherry spot for cocktails"

72. Mimosa Cafe - Near Sac State - 5641 J Street - Good Bunch spot, popular with the young and student crowd.

73. The Green Room - 38th and J Streets - Itching to try this place, looks Good, close to me. It used to be a different restaurant called?

74. Trattatoria Bohemia - 37th and J Streets - Excellent, friendly, good service. Italian meets Czech cuisine. Great Czech Beers!

75. Sellands East Sacramento - 5340 H Street. This was the original Sellands Cafe, always goods.

Don't forget that from January 12 through 21, 2024 is Dine Downtown Sacramento. A number of restaurants on the Grid are offering 3-course meals for $45.00 per person. One dollar from every Dine Downtown meal purchased will be donated to the Food Literacy Center.

How did I not know about this bakery:

76. Midtown Bakery: 998 23rd Street, looks yummy! Between J and I Streets.

I was at Ginger Elizabeth Chocolatier and Bakery on J Street looking for their awesome almond pastries when they told me they ceased baking pastries and breakfast items, so they stirred me to Midtown Bakery. Ginger Elizabeth still bakes cupcakes, maccaroons, cookies, etc, just not breakfast baked items. Of Course, they still make their famous artisanal chocolates!

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/05/d...staurants.html

New York Times Article about Sacramento's Restaurant Scene Dec 2023

"HOW SACRAMENTO TURNED INTO A GREAT RESTAURANT CITY"

"Soaring Bay Area Housing Prices, a highly Diverse Community and some of the Worlds Best Produce have been Catalysts for the Dining Scene in California's Capital".

Note that this same type of article about Sacramento Food & Drink has been appearing at least every 2 years for the last 35 years in the New York Times or some other Foodie Magazine. No surprises here, but here's the latest.

Just read that Sacramento is getting a location of Fogo de Chao, certainly a chain restaurant but one usually reserved for big metro areas, as it is upscale and pricey. I think it'll be a nice addition to the overall mix. Most impressive is that Sacramento area restaurants have garnered Michelin stars at this point

The High End Restaurant industry follow the demographics.

So the high-end chain type restaurants - Fogo de Chao - are partial to Sacramento's upper-end/monied suburbs like Roseville and Folsom.

Central Sac - East Sacramento, Downtown & Midtown Sac, and Land Park neighborhoods attract the stand alone, non-chain high-end restaurants.

Davis is similar in income/demographics to Folsom and Roseville and can totally support the high-end chains like Fogo de Chao, but its political ideology is like Central Sac so they pretty much shoo-away those high-end chains.
