When I lived in Overland Park (Kansas City) all the kids that worked in the retail store down my street had to wear tucked in white shirts and a tie.
I always felt bad for them, so I don’t mind kids at HEB dressing like crap, as long as they do their job.

Doesnt that have to do with the area? I once heard (maybe read) that Overland Park had a really high (possibly the highest) concentration of millionaires per square mile or something like that.

Default Mesquite trees,

I love 'em, really give the area its' distinctive look along with the cactus
and remember as a kid in the woods with an air rifle chewing on a few of the bean pods hanging from ends of the tree limbs and they had a vaguely sweet taste to them.
I also understand, the mesquite is a water sucking tree as bad as the cedars in the hill country and also make for the best tasting Bar-B-Que as far as I am concerned, better than Oak anyway.

It doesn't matter, they are still High School kids trying to make some extra money to pay for their expenses.

Hmmm... well thats not a very nice thing to say. I am definitely not trying to make myself physically unattractive. And I definitely got plenty of love and attention as a child. In fact, my mom always encouraged me to be myself and not change just to please others (Smart Woman!! ) I have always just thought that tattoos and piercings are a way to pronounce my style without having to say a word.

All of my piercings and tattoos are tasteful, and can be easily covered or removed when appropriate. It is sad that in this day and age someone can be so judgemental over something so widely accepted. I can't say I know even ONE female that doesn't have at least one ear piercing!

Well, you may not like it but the general perception of the public (and many employers) is that tatts and/or non-traditional piercings are less than desireable. My Grandson had a hard time getting a decent job until he got rid of the huge ear piercings that were distorting his ear lobes. Now he's got a good job and is finding out for himself that those with them are often some of his "problem children" because they insist on doing things "their" way. It's kinda funny to hear him rail about them.

Unless you are working in a liberal type job such as a radio DJ or an artist. Piercings (beyond the traditional ear lobe ones) & tattos are not widely accepted.

Default I would say that tatoos and piecings,

Are hardly an individual statement nowadays, it is more of a, rebel without a cause statement, lost, as in the man who wears ear rings. In the sixties
that, message, would have beeen a statement.
I would hardly call tatoos a style, it is not so uncommon, even mudane
to the point of being ordinary. It is becoming more difficult to become outrrageuos to be different and be a part of the in crowd at the same time.
I would say to be pure in heart and body has now become the new chic
in a place and time where the more and more bizzare has become ordinary.

It's odd that people say their piercings and tats are tasteful, yet they caveat that with "they're easily covered up or removed when appropriate". So..........which is it? Are they tasteful, or not? If so, why do you have to cover them?

I don't care one way or the other. Do what you want to your own skin. I'm gonna be laughing my ass off at you in the old folks' home, though, when we are no longer playing "BINGO"...instead it will be "Guess What My Tattoo Used To Look Like, Before It Started Sagging To The Floor?"

*I honestly don't dislike tats. I think some people get way too carried away, but again, it's not my skin. Do what you want.
