Why is the cost of living so low here? Answer that, it that should answer why the pay is so low

Amen Me007gold. A family can easily make it on one salary in SA. It's very difficult here in WI. Just the additional taxes alone increased my monthly expenditures by $500 over San Antonio. Add in the increased cost of fresh fruit and vegetables and the grocery bill goes sky high. Not to mention everyone up here needs more to survive as well so every service is substantially higher.

My wage is way above the national average, and it would be no matter where I lived.

Similarly, if you have no skills, no experience, no education or otherwise little value in the marketplace, your wage will be below the national average wherever you live.

As to why San Antonio may have more or less of one type or the other, that has been discussed on here time and time again.

Good thing they reported the " median hourly wage", instead of the average hourly wage, which in my opinion would be higher but far from the truth.
