Soon I'll be owning a home and just wondering who has the cheapest Cable/Internet in the area? Hughesnet is too much, 80 for just internet is not worth it. Internet speed needs to be atleast 12mbps. Cheapest I could find is Comcast highspeed internet and cable tv for $85. If anyone finds anything cheaper it would be much appreciated.

Hughesnet (formerly WildBlue) is for folks in the boonies. It's satellite internet and it's slow/expensive.

We don't have Comcast here. Never have. This is Time Warner Cable country.

Grande is an option if you live in the right spot.

Clear isn't terrible if you're near one of their antennas.

Grande is the cheapest. Their territory is all inside 410 and mostly north of downtown.

Grande by far. Their service and customer service blows time squander out of the water. Grande also offers a-la-carte so you can customize your service to fit your needs.

Downside: they arent all over town so you need to check if they are available in your area.

Huge downside: They're in a very small footprint of San Antonio and not expanding at the moment (with no plans to, as per their media people recently).

My TWC 50mbps connection is fine for now... At least until we can somehow get Google Fiber here

I'm a little late to the dance but we just changed over to AT&T Uverse. My internet is about 11G download and I have internet phone with it. No long distance charges to anywhere in the USA at all, caller ID and all the other phone options and my total bill is just over 60 bucks with all of the fees. I did not have to buy any equipment but I did have to install the new modem and then get it finalized via the internet- about 20 minutes. The internet comes with one of the major AVs for free but I have my own. I also get a bunch of internet TV for free. If you're going to have a land line and internet, it's worth checking out. I'm very pleased with it so far.

We have Grande. We only have basic cable because we prefer to watch things via Netflix or Amazon but we pay around $50 for internet and basic cable. Not bad. We had AT&T internet before and had constant problems. We've had a few problems with Grande but they are always fast about fixing it.

I have Grande Intrenet and telephone, but have DirecTV for television. I just got my Grande bill, and they are raising the rates starting January 1. Internet service will go up $2.00 a month. Phone service is going up $1.00, and their cable will go up $2-$3 a month.

For what they charge for "expanded service", which is going up from $63.99 to $66.49, I get about triple the stations from DirecTV.

Starting Jan 1, the Internet costs will range from $16.95 for dial up to $53.95 per month for "Gforce 12.0".

Remember to add taxes, and fees to these prices. Grande, like Time Warner absorbs nothing.
