Howdy. This Tuesday morning I will be headed west (Arizona) on I-10. I live in San Marcos so I have several options to catch I-10.

1) Out through the Hill Country and going to Fredericksburg and then 290 over to 10.

2) Hwy 46 out of New Braunfels, over to Boerne. 46 is still a bit of a mess running west out of New Braunfels though and busy.

3) The outer loop, 1604 around SA.

4) Loop 410 around SA.

5) Straight down I-35 to I-10 and turn right.

I hope to leave by 6 AM Tuesday. Any thoughts from you natives that know the traffic patterns and flow would be greatly appreciated. Y'all take care.

Are you looking for the fastest way through town, or do you want to see some sites and enjoy the drive?

1604 to 10 would be the fastest way

I would take 46 through to Boerne. it's reasonably fast. But I don't know the route through F'burg. I definitely wouldn't come into San Antonio, even as far as 1604. While traffic on I-35 won't be at it's worst at 6am, it's still not going to be pretty. Get off I-35 as early as you can. No need to head that far south.

290 is a nice drive once you get past Dripping Springs, but I agree that 46 should be faster.

Agreed, 46 would be your quickest choice.

I live off of 46 and agree, it's the fastest route. It's probably the least mileage route as well (compared to 290, and obviously 1604) Avoid 1604 and San Antonio at all costs!!

Too early for NB traffic, and Boerne traffic isn't much.

TIP: When you hit the corner of 46 and Main (at the riverside), take a right and don't stop until you hit I-10. It's the fastest way through Boerne.

Hwy 46 signs would have you go east for a mile or 2, through what traffic Boerne does have, then onto 1-10.

If you take the right at that corner light (Main/Hauptstrasse, you'll be on W-87. Go through downtown, and after about 3 miles, you will see I-10. You can't miss it, and it will save you about 4 miles and 10 minutes!

Personally I would take Ranch rd 12 to Texas 32 then you turn at Fishers turn rt. on FM 306 to US 281 turn South (left) a few miles to FM 473 and that will take you to Comfort where you can get on IH 10. The first few miles on 473 after you turn off 281 are pretty curvy but it's gets better, nice drive just watch for deer if traveling really early, good luck have a nice trip

If you leave exactly at 6:00 or maybe 30 earlier 1604 to 10 would be best in my opinion. If you get delayed or leave late I would then take 46.
