Hey Mr.Soliz ,
Doing just fine...
Still trying as hard not to let the lightning storm bother me as it did
when I was a kid. When it stormed, my mother would cover all of
the mirrors & turn off all appliances (mostly radio & lamps) we
didn't have a tv in the early 50s.
She would then cover her head with a towel & go inside the closet until
it was over. She told us to stay away from the windows.

The tale of la llorona was told to us by my teenage cousin. I too was
only 5 years when I heard this.
A mother lost her children in the waters of the Rio Grande one night.
And if you go there at night you can hear her wailing for her young
ones & if you got to close to the waters she would pull you in & drown.
You can bet I never went at night to the river.

Another thing I recall was the statues all over the house.
In the day time, they were ok...

But at night when all the lights were off & just a candle burning...
I swear that statue was coming for me...

Obviously...I had a very vivid imagination...

Talkin' about bad storms,my mom did all that too,but one thing she did that really amazed, was that she would
pick up a knife, and would get her knees. Then she would start to re-cite the Lords Prayer while making the sign of the cross with the knife. She would do this while facing out the window or door looking up towards the clouds.Lighting striking all around us,her towel over her head, everything turned off.To my surprise, the clouds would stsrt to break apart, and the lighting would stop.Only steady peaceful rain would come down.

Oh, and by the way I grew up in East Bexar country, not far from Woman Hollering Creek. The only woman hollerin' according to my dad was my mom. He would tease her he would drop her off there whenever we passed by the sign on I-10. LOL.
