not anytime soon, our market size needs to grow...SA and Austin would need to work together and you would have to get rid of Jerry Jones so not anytime soon

Whenever Benson hands over his team to his daughter.

His daughter and son are SA reisdents (Benson himself has a second home in SA and all his business) and his daughter is in line to take over the team as owner (when is the real question) and she has been the loudest vocal leader for moving the team to San Antonio.

Many say she was the big reason SA was talked about as the new home for the Saints prior to Katrina and esp. after Katrina.

Yep, Austin & SA would definately need to work together in that one. I dont know if just the current SA market alone could support a NFL team with attendance, etc. People have even been saying that SA is having [some] trouble with supporting the Spurs [which I don't think is true] but oh well.

SA and Austin are getting closer and closer and this project may come back in the future, but not yet.

[San Marcos and New Braunfels are becoming great SA-Austin connectors]

I was thinking this while scrooling down reading, people have been saying that this market is too small for years and having 2 other teams in Texas does not help. But in my opinion i see SA going in a direction it has never seen before. When you put Austin in the mix it creates a a pretty big market in my opinion. Both cities are really booming right now so I would agree that we would need Austins help.

To say New Orleans can support an NFL team and SA cannot is ridiculous.

I'd like to see SA get an NFL franchise (probably won't be for another 10 years, if ever), and Austin get an MLB team and relocate the RR Express to NB. Lastly, UTSA needs to get it's football prog. up and running.

If these things happened, you'd have NBA, NFL, AA baseball, WNBA, AHL, and div. I b-ball and football in SA, combined with MLB, AFL, and div. I college sports in Austin, with AAA ball in between the two cities. Then you'd have a region with a well-rounded sports presence. All that would be missing is NHL, but who really takes that league seriously anymore anyhow? There might be room to squeeze an MLS franchise in there too (prob. in Austin, since SA apparently turned them down already).

Again, this would take 10-15 years to develop (enough time for the region to pass 4-4.5 million and/or combine TV markets to get into the top 25 nationally), since you'd need some teams like the Devil Rays, Saints or Chargers to relocate, or hope for expansion. That's what I think it will take, but it would be worth the wait.
